Midas the Gold

Once the strongest Elder Dragon, Oreim Dracca, known as Midas, was a formidable force during early mankind, when dragons and humans coexisted in a delicate power balance. Feared and respected, he embodied wealth and prosperity. Legends of his mysterious disappearance vary, suggesting he vanished into a hidden realm or was betrayed by allies. His absence impacted the lands profoundly. Kings who failed to pay homage to Midas in gold faced short reigns, reflecting his power and the respect he commanded. This tribute symbolized acknowledgment of his strength and blessings. Kingdoms ignoring his majesty often faced downfall due to his wrath, influencing rulers' policies and alliances. Midas represented the golden dragons, a race that once soared majestically. His power and legends sparked fear, leading humans to hunt his kin to near extinction. The fear of a golden dragon regaining Midas’s strength drove brutal campaigns, resulting in a tragic decline of their population. Midas's legacy highlights the balance between reverence and fear, showing how traits that made him revered also incited terror.
